In his speech to commemorate 25 years of the Scottish Parliament, King Charles III recalled the last days of the life of Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral Castle, ensuring that it is a special place for the royal family.
“Speaking from a personal perspective, Scotland has always had an uniquely special place in the hearts of my family and myself“, said the monarch, who added, “Beloved grandmother was proudly Scottish“, analyzing that perhaps it was she who instilled in them such a great love for the country in the first place.
King Charles III also recalled, “My late mother especially treasured the time spent at Balmoral, and it was there, in the most beloved of places, where she chose to spend her final days“. This is a sign that Scotland is a historically important place for the British monarchy and one of their favorites when it comes to vacationing.
Queen Elizabeth died on September 8, 2022, at the age of 96, in what many say was one of her favorite places in the world, her Balmoral estate, where she spent much of her life with her husband Philip, her children, and other members of the British royal family.
