The renowned royal expert and journalist Hilary Osborne, through an article in ‘The Guardian‘, strongly criticizes Kate Middleton for the video announcing she is cancer-free and that she has completed her chemotherapy treatment.
“Kate’s recovery is great news, but be wary of a soft-focus view of life after chemo“, said Osborne, claiming that the princess’s video “underplays the strain on patients and their families“, as patients do not usually look like this at the end of treatment, and she described how her video would look after her personal experience of the disease.
Osborne, who beat breast cancer, said, “For wandering through wheat fields I would substitute tackling an overgrown garden that I had not had the energy to do anything with for more than a year. For a contemplative lean against a tree I would substitute a rest against a lamp-post on the way to work for a quiet sob“, referring to how she would have done it.
The journalist also revealed, “When the princess first announced she had cancer, I was very moved, I related to her shock and her fears for the future” and added, “But I found this new film upsetting in a different way“.
