A new national memorial to honor the late Queen Elizabeth II has finally found its future home, being close to Buckingham Palace. The Queen was highly praised during her 70-year reign and she earned the hearts of thousands of royal followers.
On September 7, The British government stated that Queen Elizabeth II’s memorial would be placed in London’s St. James’ Park, which holds a historical and constitutional significance, and personal connection to the late Queen.
“The memorial is intended to provide not only a fitting monument but also a space for contemplation and community and will be an appropriate scale and ambition to match the impact of Queen Elizabeth II on national life, The Commonwealth, and indeed the rest of the world.”
The new site for the memorial is close to the ceremonial route of the Mall and to Buckingham Palace. On top of that, the location also means that foreigners and tourists who visit Buckingham Palace would have a short walk to see the monument commemorating Britain’s longest-reigning monarch.
