Over the years it has been confirmed that King Charles III is a defender of animals, especially those that are in danger of extinction; due to this, he allows these wild animals to move free throughout his Scottish property.
Although since the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, the Balmoral estate has become the property of the now British monarch, there are those who feel that place as their home since long before the monarch, as they have lived there for a long time and the king’s intention is to keep it that way.
King Charles III has declared himself a fan of the Royal Red Squirrels, who are currently in danger of extinction, so the monarch has been responsible for preserving and sharing with them, even revealing, “They come into the house at Birkhall and we get them chasing each other round and round inside. If I sit quietly, they will do so around me“.
The monarch has let it be known that it is a tremendous privilege to be able to enjoy these species that have chosen Balmoral as their home and shared his strategy to bring them closer: “Sometimes, when I leave my jackets on a chair with nuts in the pockets, I see them with their tails sticking out, as they hunt for nuts—they are incredibly special creatures“.
