According to Robert Jobson’s new book, ‘Catherine, Princess of Wales‘, this is the poignant reason why Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton moved to Adelaide Cottage in 2022.
The author reveals that the main reason for the now Prince of Wales to move was because he wanted to be closer to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and states, “Catherine understood that for William, as a future king, it was important for him to be geographically closer to the late Queen in her final months“.
This change of residence was very positive for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s family, as they would be close to Lambrook School, where their children currently attend, and the future queen consort can visit her parents more frequently, as their home is 45 minutes away from Adelaide Cottage.
But mainly it served William to spend more time with his grandmother, and according to Jobson after they moved, Queen Elizabeth and her grandson “were in regular contact, seeing each other in person and speaking on the phone several times a week, bringing them even closer“. This makes it clear that the change was satisfactory for all parties, since the intention was always to be closer to the family.
