Last Monday, September 2nd, during an interview for People, Richard Dalton, Princess Diana‘s former hairdresser, revealed that she hated her King Charles III wedding hairstyle so badly that she wanted to repeat it.
“Diana did express to me that she wished she could do the wedding over again to ‘get the hair right’“, Dalton told People magazine and mentioned that he agreed with the princess’s opinion; the hairstyle for the event was a complete ‘disaster’; however, it was not Richard who did it, but his colleague Kevin Shanley.
The hairstyle showed Diana’s beautiful short blonde hair, with a fringe and adorned with feathers; the result did not satisfy the bride, who was looking for a more innovative style for the time. Even so, she walked down the aisle looking her best with Shanley’s hairstyle at the event watched by more than 750 million people.
After becoming Princess Diana’s official hairdresser, Dalton spent a lot of time with her, emphasizing that they had very personal conversations, yet she seemed to be satisfied, as Richard said; “she never mentioned any other regrets while I did her hair“.
