NCT fans woke up to terrible news on August 28, 2024, after learning that former member, Taeil, was under investigation for a serious crime. The reaction from followers was quick and severe following the accusations—many have shut down fan accounts and even destroyed Taeil’s merchandise in protest of the crime.
After the announcement of his departure from NCT on August 28, 2024, fans took to social media to express their outrage. The reactions included former fans burning photocards and expressing their disappointment on social media.
In addition, Instagram also had its fair share of reactions. Most NCT members and SM Entertainment decided to unfollow Taeil’s account. What’s more, Taeil’s own Instagram follower count plummeted, reflecting that his involvement in this criminal case has been met with disapproval and anger.
As of now, the South Korean authorities continue investigating the case. Allegedly, he blackmailed, harassed, and threatened a young woman for six years, however, this has not been officially confirmed by investigators.
