In his controversial memoir book, Prince Harry tells how he witnessed King Charles III‘s traumatic brush with death that left him shocked, as he did not understand what was really happening to his father.

Just four years after the tragic death of his mother, the prince was present when his father almost lost his life in an accident while playing polo and fell off his horse; this experience undoubtedly marked him, and so he recounted in his book ‘Spare‘.

Prince Harry wrote, “As a boy, I’d seen Pa take that same fall, the horse giving way, the ground simultaneously smacking and swallowing him“, then added, “Remembered thinking: Why’s Pa snoring? And then someone yelling: He’s swallowed his tongue“. As he swallowed his tongue, the king’s airways were obstructed, preventing him from breathing normally.

The Duke of Sussex told everything from his perspective and assured that, fortunately, “A quick-thinking player jumped from his horse and saved Pa’s life“. However, when he understood that his father was unconscious and that he was not ‘snoring’ but choking, the then young prince was in shock.
