New statements have emerged where they claim that the late Queen Elizabeth II was not ‘comfortable‘ with the decision of her son, the now King Charles III, to accompany Meghan Markle to the aisle as a sign of approval to the marital union of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
It was royal expert Ingrid Seward who revealed through her new book ‘My Mother and I’ the late monarch’s displeasure at the time: “The Queen was not comfortable with the Prince of Wales standing in for Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle“. Despite his mother’s denial, Charles made sure his son’s new wife was accompanied on her way down the aisle.
However, the then Prince of Wales did not accompany Meghan Markle from the beginning of her walk; it was after the halfway point that he did the honors and left her at the aisle, even though Queen Elizabeth II disagreed, although the real reason is not entirely clear.
While it is true that the protocols indicate that it is the father of the bride who should accompany her to the altar, he could not attend the wedding of his daughter with Prince Harry in 2018, possibly because of family problems, since it is known that the Duchess of Sussex has not had a good relationship with her father for some time.
