Prince Harry criticizes the spread of disinformation via AI and social media during his visit to Colombia

The British media outlets have their gaze on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s latest “faux-royal” tour in Colombia. The pair have discussed national concerns, particularly about the risks the youngsters are exposed to online. On top of that, the Prince also discussed the spread of misinformation in social media.

The Duke of Sussex participated in Bogotá at a summit on digital responsibility, expressing his thoughts towards the spread of false information via artificial intelligence and social media. Although the Prince didn’t name specific social media platforms, he commented about social media platforms after the far-right riots in the United Kingdom.

“What happens online within a matter of minutes transfers to the streets. People are acting on information that isn’t true. For as long as people are allowed to spread lies, abuse, harass, then social cohesion as we know it has completely broken down.”

There’s no doubt Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s visit to Colombia has been completely meaningful for the communities. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are trying to expand their success outside of the United States and the United Kingdom to secure a brighter future for their children and themselves.
