Stray KidsFelix is making news, but this time it’s nothing related to his deep voice, spicing up some tunes! Recently, the idol has been under scrutiny after mentioning a Japanese song on Korean Liberation Day. Internet users have taken to social media to let the Stray Kids member know about his actions.

On August 15, 2024, Felix sent a voice message on LYSN Bubble, a platform he often uses to interact with fans. In the message, he told STAYs that he had participated in the Shikanoko challenge, a Japanese anime challenge. This sparked controversy among South Korean netizens, who found the mention of a Japanese song insensitive, especially on Korean Liberation Day.

Korean Liberation Day is commemorated on August 15 in both South Korea and North Korea, to remember the day the nation was free from Japan’s colonial rule. Despite the backlash, the Stray Kids member apologized for his actions:

“Hello, this is Felix. I would like to apologize to my fans and to everyone who was disappointed by my carelessness. During a voice live broadcast on the early morning of August 15, I mentioned a Japanese song while talking with fans about short-form challenges. I truly apologize for my carelessness on such a meaningful liberation day.

I am deeply reflecting on my lack of knowledge about history. I will study, think, and act more carefully in areas where I have been lacking and make sure something like this does not happen again.”

Meanwhile, Stray Kids recently dropped their mini-album “ATE,” along with the main single “Chk Chk Chk Boom,” which includes special cameos from “Deadpool & Wolverine” stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
