According to royal biographer Robert Jobson, Prince William and Kate Middleton used these code names to book hotel rooms, making the moment sexier in true romantic comedy style.
Jobson revealed in his new book, ‘Catherine, the Princess of Wales: The Biography‘, that during their courtship, the couple used nicknames with the intention of ‘going undercover’ and keeping their romantic encounter as secret as possible; however, it is possible that their plan was not the most efficient.
“Occasionally, they checked into hotels, using the names Mr. and Mrs. Smith—which doubtless fooled no one“, Jobson revealed, claiming that the nickname of the now Prince and Princess of Wales was not good enough for anyone to believe, but it was good enough to be in one of Hollywood’s most successful spy movies.
Although many sympathizers claim it’s a bit sexy, as Prince William and Kate Middleton may have been inspired by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, the iconic movie ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith‘ was released in Hollywood in 2005, and these adventures between the Prince and Princess of Wales occurred in 2001 when they were just starting their relationship.
