TWICE‘s Nayeon recently dropped her highly-anticipated second mini-album “NA,” which features bops like “ABCD” and “Something.” The EP came almost two years after her debut mini-album “Im Nayeon” and the expectations were high! However, some users are pointing out Nayeon’s poor performance on Melon, as both her solo music and TWICE’s latest songs have not performed well on the platform.
For the unversed, Melon is one of South Korea’s main streaming platforms, and it reflects the popularity of songs and albums across the country. Unfortunately, Nayeon’s “ABDC” only peaked at No. 94, and TWICE’s “One Spark” barely achieved the 114th position. With these results, some users are alleging that Nayeon and TWICE are flopping.
On one hand, this poor commercial performance seems to extend to other JYP Entertainment acts, including Stray Kids, NMIXX, and ITZY. Despite their being highly-anticipated groups, none of their latest singles have been able to move past the No. 100 on the Melon charts, provoking criticism online from people who think the quality of the JYP Entertainment roster has declined.
On the other hand, some users believe these comments are blowing out of proportion and are mostly done by trolls and anti-fans. Some Nayeon and TWICE stans have been quick to point out that Nayeon’s latest EP “NA” peaked at No. 1 on South Korea’s Circle Albums Chart, highlighting that the whole mini-album was successful.
