Previously, we reported that BLACKPINK‘s Lisa had been surrounded with plagiarism claims after releasing the music video to “Rockstar.” The allegations came from Gabriel Moses, the director of Travis Scott’s “FE!N” music video, due to the similarities in a scene featuring uniformed children. Moses then took to Instagram to demand credit and requested a response from Lisa and her self-founded label, LLOUD.
Fast-forward to now: Lisa will drop the music video to “New Woman,” a highly anticipated collab with Spanish singer Rosalía. The music video will be directed by none other than Dave Meyers, who has worked with big names such as Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, and Kendrick Lamar. Interestingly, he directed the “Humble” music by the American rapper, which features a scene with uniformed people (similar to Travis Scott and BLACKPINK’s Lisa music videos).
Meyers was the first one to feature a scene like this in a music video, as the clip for “Humble” was released in 2017. In comparison, the videos for “FE!N” and “Rockstar” were released in March 2024 and June 2024, respectively. With this, fans think the BLACKPINK member is clapping back at the plagiarism claims by having worked with Dave Meyers on her upcoming music video, as he was the person who depicted everything first.
Dave Meyer, the original creator of Kendrick Lamar's 'Humble' effect, directed LISA’s next song 'NEW WOMAN' feat Rosalía. Prior to this news, some netizens claimed plagiarism against LISA’s team for utilizing a similar effect on 'ROCKSTAR'.
