Taylor Swift released her eleventh studio album “The Tortured Poets Department,” later expanding it into a double album titled “The Anthology” on April 19, 2024. The record went on to break several Spotify records, including the most pre-saved album of all time and the most streamed album in a single day. It also spent 12 consecutive weeks at number one on the United States Billboard Hot 100 chart, and it looks like she wants to get back to the top for another week.
The singer dropped the prices of all the “Tortured Poets Department Special Editions,” making them 13% off until 11:59 in her official United States store. These discounts coincide with the release of Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign‘s second studio album “Vultures 2.” The hip-hop super duo, also known as Â¥$, surprise dropped the record on August 3, which could likely make them have the No. 1 album in the country next week.

However, the chances of the rappers getting the top spot in the tally seem to have been reduced after Taylor Swift made these offers on her website. While it is too soon to tell if the “Blank Space” singer will ultimately surpass Ty Dolla Sign and Kanye West’s album sales, it would not be the first time the songwriter and her team utilize these strategies to boost her numbers.
Previously, she blocked Billie Eilish’s latest album “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT” by releasing new versions of her album to preserve the top spot. Another controversial case was when she blocked Charli XC’s “Brat” from the number one spot in the UK after dropping six UK-exclusive versions of “The Tortured Poets Department” to keep herself at first place in Britain.
What’s your take, do you think Taylor Swift is doing this to block Â¥$?
