Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be having an interview with CBS this Sunday, marking their first one together since sitting down with Oprah Winfrey back in 2021. This interview, along with the release of Prince Harry’s bombshell memoir “Spare” in early 2023 were the last nail in the coffin for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the royal family. Since then, their relationship has become visibly distant.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want to be “a part of change for good” when it comes to supporting parents whose children have been impacted by online harm.

However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not always away from the monarchy. Back when they were still working royals, Kate Middleton was one to praise them and wish them the best. For that reason, we’re going to revisit the Princess of Wales’ comments about the couple, ahead of their controversial interview scheduled this weekend.
Kate Middleton first talked about the royal renegades after the news of their engagement in 2017. In a public statement with Prince William, they congratulated the couple, saying:
“We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together.”
In 2018, after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s pregnancy with Prince Archie was announced. Kate Middleton was quick to gush over the new baby, saying she was “absolutely” excited. She then expressed that a cousin for George, Charlotte, and Louis would be “really special.” Similarly, she was visibly enthusiastic about her in-law’s second child, Lilibet in 2021 as per an official statement:
“The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” the spokesperson said.
Fast-forward to now: Buckingham Palace does not get along all that well with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The former royal couple have been living their best life separated from the pressures of the monarchy in Montecito, California. Meanwhile, the rest of the royal family seems to agree on keeping their distance from them.
And just like that, our trip down memory lane concludes!
