BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is stepping into the spotlight as the leading lady in the upcoming Korean zombie series “Newtopia!” The thrilling series, courtesy of Coupang Play, sees two lovers surviving a zombie-infested Seoul with the male protagonist facing the outbreak during his mandatory military service. Meanwhile, his girlfriend (Jisoo) is an engineer waiting for his return.
But surprises don’t end there! Coupang Play just shared a peek of the series with fans, posting two exciting photos featuring the BLACKPINK member. The series promises to have the two protagonists fighting through hordes of zombies, making their journey to reunite totally epic.
In addition, Coupang Play announced the show is co-written by Han Jin-won, co-writer of the Oscar-winning “Parasite,” and Ji Ho-jin, known for Disney+’s “A Shop for Killers.” Filming is wrapped up, so stay tuned, because “Netwopia” is scheduled to premiere in 2025. However, no specific release dates have been announced.
Meanwhile, the BLACKPINK members have been focused on her solo projects this year. Jisoo herself established her own label, BLISOO. Still, BLACKPINK’s group activities will remain under the management of YG Entertainment and they have plans to drop new music and tour the world in 2025.
