Kate Middleton will at some point be on the way to becoming the Queen of the United Kingdom, as she’s married to the heir to the throne Prince William. Traditionally, Kings and Queens have received the support of extensive teams to manage their administrative duties and correspondence.
For Queens, this often meant having “ladies-in-waiting” to help with a multitude of tasks, including correspondence or administration. However, when Camilla became the new Queen in September 2022, she gave a major switch-up by replacing the long-standing tradition with a new team called the “Queen’s companions.”
In contrast to traditional ladies-in-waiting, the Queen’s companions assist mainly at public events and aren’t responsible for managing correspondence or administration. This poses the question: will we ever see Kate Middleton’s sister, Pippa Middleton, take on the day-in-waiting role in the future?
The short answer? It’s unlikely, as the mother of three will probably follow Queen Camilla’s footsteps, opting for a small group of “Companions” instead. This change aligns with Charles and Camilla’s vision for a more streamlined monarchy, which makes the return of the ladies-in-waiting to the royal family almost impossible.
