A positive announcement was made for Marvel on July 27th at the Hall H Comic-Con in San Diego, as the appearance of Robert Downey Jr. confirmed that the actor is returning to the MCU as the iconic villain Doctor Doom, leaving all fans of the franchise completely surprised.

While it is true that the actor’s return was one of the most anticipated, no one imagined that he would return to play the villain and not the famous super hero Iron Man, whom he brought to life since 2008 when Tony Stark first made an appearance in the Marvel Universe.

Doctor Doom is an extremely iconic villain of the Fantastic Four, and it is expected that in the future installment of ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps‘, Robert Downey Jr. will make his appearance so that this franchise finally joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a new era.

Although fans were eager to see the artist playing Tony Stark, they have agreed that it may be surprising to see him as a villain, something that has never happened before, which will give him a very different perspective on this universe.
