Stray Kids are the highlight of the week in South Korea for all the right and wrong reasons. The boys recently released their album, “ATE,” including a heavy rollout with the Marvel’s movie, “Deadpool and Wolverine,” and the release of a new single “Chk Chk Boom.”
The album performed quite well on music charts in terms of streaming worldwide. They even achieved the highest number of first-week streams by a Kpop act on Spotify for 2024 so far. However, the data for its sales revealed what everyone was fearful of.
Stray Kids’ albums experienced a drastic drop in sales, “5-STAR,” reached a whopping 4.62 million first-week sales, “ROCK-STAR” saw a bit of dip in first week sales, reaching 3.70 million copies sold. However, their latest musical project, “ATE,” sold 2.37 million copies within the same period of time.
Although the numbers are still fantastic, there are fans who have stated this strange behavior from the market must need to be studied. The boys are still ruling the charts but they have decreased their first-week sales and nobody knows why.
