During his academic studies, Prince William wanted to be at peace and without the constant worry of being part of a scandal, which is why he required his friends at the university to sign confidentiality agreements, as only this way he could guarantee a normal stay at the institution.
In a conversation on Vanity Fair’s “Dynasty” podcast, the royal expert Katie Nicholl said that for the royal’s peers, “consider it to be a very strange concept to have to sign a confidentiality agreement, but of course, he was a future king” and added, “so his friends had to legally promise not to leak stories about his activities to the press“.
All his friends understood that only that confidentiality agreement would allow Prince William to be one of the university, away from the cameras and controversies. Nicholl said, “And as a result his experience was remarkably ordinary and very happy” as the prince never complained about his stay at the institution.
Even for William, traveling to Scotland to study at St Andrew’s University could be summed up as one of the best decisions of his life, as it was there that he met his partner, Kate Middleton, whom he married years later, and they now share three children who form a crucial part of the monarchy.
