According to royal commentator Richard Kay, Prince William would have honored and kept his promise to his late mother, Princess Diana, by naming his only daughter, Princess Charlotte, making a lifetime memory of her in the youn royal.
The Prince of Wales felt that the right thing to do was to name his only daughter, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, a very smart choice according to Kay: “Had it been the first name, I think it would have been terrible for the child, here would have been constant comparisons with Diana, and William wouldn’t have wanted that“.
Although Kay assured Vanity Fair, “It’s a tribute to his mother and a way of ensuring Diana is always remembered“. Diana’s friend Simone Simmons confessed to The Daily Express: “When Diana was alive, William promised her when he was King [that] Diana would have her HRH restored. This is his way of doing it“.
There is no doubt that Prince William is a man of his word, and he kept his promise to his mother, honoring her legacy. No doubt the name Charlotte Elizabeth Diana is very special as it refers to Princess Diana, Elizabeth in honor of the late Queen, and Charlotte as a nod to the current monarch as it would be the female counterpart of Charles III.
