Prince Harry and King Charles III’s relationship went downhill after the Prince publicly attacked the Royal Family in his memoir, “Spare.” Ultimately, the pair stopped talking to each other and their bond became distant over the years.
The Duke of Sussex announced that the eight Invictus Games veterans event will be held in the ciy of Birmingham in July 2024, after the location beat out Washington D.C which was also a potential contestant. Jack Royston, Newsweek’s chief royal correspondent commented this decision will bring “difficult” and “controversial questions.”
“Prince Harry has taken quite a surprising decision, he’s going to have his 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham instead of Washington, D.C. He had the chance to do it right on his new home turf in the beating heart of American politics and American democracy and he’s chosen Birmingham instead, which is really interesting.”
Royston explain that King Charles III will be holding a difficult position if he attends the Invictus Games because he probably should’t be seen endorsing something that Harry’s doing outside of the Royal Family. However, at the same time he must think this is the perfect opportunity to reconcilatie once and for all.
