NewJeans is taking a break amid the plagiarism whispers surrounding their bop, “Bubble Gum.” ADOR has declared that after all their hard work and the recent controversies, the girls deserve some downtime. And while they are hitting the pause button on their activities, their agency also hinted at a fabulous comeback with a new look and a fresh sound!
The girl group’s agency posted a statement detailing their well-deserved break:
In addition, the agency shared how plagiarism accusations have been responded to in defense of NewJeans. The UK’s Wise Music Group recently sent a letter to ADOR, HYBE, Sony Music Publishing Hong Kong, and the Korea Music Copyright Association. The letter accused NewJeans of copying Shakatak’s 1981 song “Easier Said Than Done.”
However, the South Korean agency denied the allegations, saying that “Bubble Gum” differs from “Easier Said Than Done” and that the song’s creators never even listened to the 1981 track, making plagiarism impossible. Moreover, they explained the musical difference between both tracks in theoretical terms, reaffirming that NewJeans’ track is not a copy.
Stay tuned, Bunnies, because NewJeans will be back soon, fiercer and fresher than ever!
