Red Velvet’s Seulgi apologizes after facing controversy for exchanging shoes with her staff

A few days ago, the Red Velvet‘s member Seulgi used her social networks to share an apology after facing controversy for exchanging shoes with her staff, for which she received great criticism and negative reactions from netizens around the world.

The K-Pop idol drew attention on social networks when she was spotted arriving at the Taiwan airport to perform at a festival with sneakers when she was previously seen with high heels. Meanwhile, some netizens claimed the manager seemed unconfortable with her footwear.

After that, Seulgi received much criticism, and on July 13th (KST), the Red Velvet member updated her Instagram stories to issue an apology over the matter, starting, “Firstly, I apologize to the manager and many others for the incident at the airport yesterday“.

The singer also explained the situation: “while practicing, I injured my foot, and although my shoes at the airport had high heels, I thought it would be fine and didn’t bring any sneakers with me, which was my own negligence“.

She also said that due to her foot pain increasing and soon performance, her manager “suggested changing shoes before leaving the airport“. She expressed regret about her decision and said, “I apologize to those who were disappointed and to the manager who was hurt by this incident“.
