King Charles III is back in the headlines worldwide because of his latest acquisition in the United States. The popular luxury condo on NYC’s Billionaires’ Row had a particular note on its deed, which caused commotion among the royal followers.
The signature of Robert McCubbing, the Senior Trade Commissioner and Director of Trade and Investment at the Consulate General of Canada in New York appeared in the city records. The records also listed the condo’s new owner as “His Majesty the King in Right of Canada, Represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs.”
King Charles III splashed out $6.63 million for the condo in Manhattan. McCubbing explains why King Charles III’s name appeared, stating that this is the standard procedure, given the royal’s status as the “Head of State of Canada,” with Canada being a nation of the British Commonwealth.
“His name is used on legal documentation. It’s a function of Canada being a constitutional monarchy.”
Robert McCubbing also explained that King Charles III wouldn’t utilize the residence himself. Buckingham Palace hasn’t agreed to make any comment for American media outlets to keep out of the public eye their latest acquisition.
