Prince Harry was reportedly shocked by the Backlash to his ESPY award

Prince Harry has hate trains towards him since he was announced as this year’s recipient of the Pat Tillman’s Award. The Prince is set to receive his award during the ESPY Awards, however, he has received huge disapprobation from thousands of followers of the veteran.

Sources close to the Duke of Sussex indicated that the criticism after the announcement has hit him hard since the Invictus Games and veteran’s affairs are his passion projects. Ultimately, Pat Tillman’s mother, Mary Tillman explained he wasn’t worthy of the award because he is privileged.

“Harry’s legacy on Invictus, the things he has achieved, that’s his real passion. This is the space in which he truly feels at home, it is something he deeply cares about. The reaction certainly took the shine off the award.”

They also explained that the current situation is a “particularly bitter pill to swallow” and left him stunned at some of the reactions coming from the public. The general public is so highly against of the idea of Prince Harry becoming this year’s recipient, that they even requested a petition to remove the Prince’s name from the candidates for the award.
