Prince George is the eldest child of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s marriage, he is also the future heir to the British throne once William’s reign comes to an end. The little prince lives a very privileged, albeit heavily regimented life and he is about to experience a massive change in his life once he turns 12 years old.
The now-10-year-old Prince will also lead a different life from that of his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The royal tradition states that once the second person in line to inherit turns 12, they must travel separately to the current heir when undertaking any royal duties.
After July 22, 2025, George will be forced to travel separately from Prince William and his younger siblings. The reason behind this odd tradition relies on ensuring the stability of the monarchy’s future in the event of an unforeseen tragedy.
Although it might be too strict, the Royal Family is prepared for any scenario that could happen in the years to come. The strict rule showed its utility when the late Prince Philip’s sister Princess Cecilie died in an air accident in 1937.
