According to sources close to King Charles III, the monarch would prefer to rent the property from Prince Andrew with the intention of generating extra income for the country rather than making it ‘a drain on everyone’, with the Duke of York being the current guest.

The source told The Sun, “It makes sense for Royal Lodge to be handed back to Crown Estates, which can pay for the much-needed repairs and renovations“, and added, “It could then be rented to earn money for them, the King’s coffers and the country rather than being a drain on everyone’s resources“.

Prince Andrew has been repeatedly notified that he must leave the property located in Windsor Great Park for multiple reasons; however, he has decided to ignore the warnings as he claims he has a contract that prevents anyone from evicting him from the property.

King Charles has major plans for the mansion and has asked his brother to relocate to another property, but a source said, “He can’t be any clearer. He’s not going to leave and move into another property, he has a lease, he’s spent millions on doing the place up and doesn’t want to move. Whoever is behind this would have to drag him out and that clearly isn’t going to happen“.
