Is Kate Middleton the backbone of the royal family? Royal commentator explains why

Princess Kate Middleton has become the cornerstone of the royal family over the years. Her months of absence during her preventive chemotherapy have proved that she is increasingly essential. Royal commentator, Patrick Jephson, has recently talked about this royal situation, revealing to Vanity Fair that the monarchy’s current fragility stems from its reliance on Kate Middleton. 

“Without Catherine, it all seems rather flat. The future of the monarchy is William and Catherine.”

Jephson elaborated later elaborated the idea, saying that the British royal family is often glued together by a female. In his words, they “get out there and make things happen.” Answering the question about the fragility of the monarchy, he said:

 “Well, it’s as fragile as Catherine is, and at the moment, we don’t know.”

Despite the uncertainty, the royal commentator praised the Princess of Wales for being resilient, especially after her Trooping the Colour appearance. He affirmed that this outing underlined how crucial she is to the monarchy, considering the intense public emotion after her attendance.

In his final thoughts, Jephson concluded:

“Without her, the institution would surely be reduced to a shadow of itself. Given the Windsors’ drastically thinned ranks, she is the crown’s best hope by far. She combines duty and beauty with a piercing vulnerability second only to Prince William’s mother.”
