Little did we know Princess Diana was a cheeky girl with a sense of humor! But an explosive reveal from a new book reveals she loved playing tricks on people. Particularly, the late Princess pulled a prank on Oprah Winfrey. back when she visited her in the mid-1990s.
This reveal was dropped by royal author Robert Lacey. In a chapter of his book “Battle of Brothers,” the writer claims Princess Diana “never had much time” for the American TV host. However, she was still eager to secure an interview with the then-Princess of Wales and even flew to the United Kingdom to persuade her.
According to Lacey, the Princess invited her to Kensington Palace for lunch. Back then, Oprah Winfrey had lost about 40 pounds through a new diet, so the late Princess asked her chef, Darren McGrady, to cook his tomato mousse. Cheekily, Diana told the chef to serve the TV host the full-fat version with heavy cream and mayonnaise, while she ate the fat-free version.
Simone Simmons, a friend of Diana, told the author that Princess Diana felt uncomfortable with Oprah Winfrey, thinking she was only about sensationalism in the royal family. However, her son Prince Harry, and daughter-in-law Meghan Markle would later be interviewed by Oprah, spilling the hottest tea on the royal gossip.
