The late Princess Diana’s family estate, Althorp, won’t go to Prince Harry or Prince William! With its vast 13,500 acres, it’s the place where she spent her childhood and now rests. Instead, the lucky one is Louis Spencer, Viscount Althorp, keeping the dazzling home for the Spencer family since 1508.
While the late Princess’ 13 million fortune and some iconic jewels did go to her sons, her Althorp paradisiac place is a different story. Managed by her brother, Earl Charles Spencer, the estate follows the rules of primogeniture, which prefers the eldest male in the family. Despite having three older sisters, Louis Spencer will get it all.
Kitty Spencer, Louis’ elder sister, spilled the tea on the family’s inheritance. In a chat with Town & Country, she explained that they always knew the home would go to Louis, so it’s no surprise primogeniture made its move.
“Primogeniture can be a tricky topic, because as times are changing, attitudes are as well. We’ve grown up understanding that it’s Louis to inherit, and Louis will do an incredible job.”
The home itself is no humble abode! It has 90 rooms and features including a portrait gallery, a lake, and numerous subsidiary structures that support farming and sports. Moreover, The Telegraph describes Louis as “low-key,” “kind,” and “tall,” so he sure is the perfect owner!
