Kylie Jenner got real on Hulu’s “The Kardashians,” opening up about the scrutiny she faces because of her appearance. During a heartfelt conversation with her sister, Kendall Jenner, the entrepreneur shared her feelings about her past plastic surgeries and the impact of harsh comments on her self-esteem. The founder of Kylie Cosmetics said:
“Despite the constant backlash, it’s almost a miracle I still feel confident and can look in the mirror and feel pretty.”
She went on to recall a situation at Paris Fashion Week in September 2023. At the event, the reality TV star decided to wear minimal makeup, hoping to escape the criticism about her looks. However, the judgment continued with comments about her looks being “off” due to less makeup.
“I’m wearing too much makeup and it’s like, ‘You’re wearing too much makeup.’ Then I go and I don’t wear a lot of makeup and someone catches me in a weird light.”

Reflecting on the scrutiny, Kylie Jenner questioned why it was acceptable for people to make such mean comments. Then, her sister pointed out that the public and the media often dehumanize the Kardashian family. For the supermodel, this seemed to be the troubling norm, as people would not make comments like that about somebody else:
“We’re dehumanized. They don’t think that there’s any rules with us. Whereas like, if you talked the same way you do about us about any other woman, people would come to their defense all day long. But for some reason with us, it’s like they don’t think we have any feelings.”
