On June 17th, for the first time in the reign of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, they witnessed a major milestone for a non-blood royal relative on Garter Day. The ladies and gentlemen of the country’s oldest and highest-ranking Order of Chivalry were seen in their traditional dress with white feathered hats and dark blue velvet robes for the event.
Prince Richard’s wife, Brigida, who holds the title of Duchess of Gloucester, made history by becoming the first person without royal blood to be made a Dame Royal of the Garter without being married to the current monarch or the future heir; fortunately, King Charles III and his wife Camilla were present to see this event.
Undoubtedly, it is something that will go down in history as it is the first time that something similar happens in this event, so it was of utmost importance, being one of the reasons why the current monarch took the decision not to miss despite his busy schedule this summer and the rest required for his treatment against cancer.
