“Inside Out 2” is racing towards one of Pixar’s top box office openings ever, promising a dazzling weekend. The sequel, which comes almost a decade after the original, is set to outshine its predecessor with projections estimating an opening between $140 and $150 million. With these impressive numbers, the Pixar film eclipses 2024’s previous record-holder “Dune: Part Two,” which grossed $82.5 million on its opening weekend.
‘INSIDE OUT 2’ is tracking to earn $270M-$295M in its worldwide box office opening weekend.
It would be the biggest worldwide opening of the year.

But surprises don’t stop there! This explosive start could place “Inside Out 2” second on the highest-grossing opening weeks for Pixar, right behind “Incredibles 2,” which grossed $182.7 million in 2018. Not to mention, if the animated film can keep the numbers up, it might become one of the studio’s highest-grossing films of all time, behind “Finding Dory” ($1.03 billion), “Toy Story 3“ ($10.67 billion) and “Toy Story 4” ($1.073 billion).
The timing could not be better for Pixar, shaking off recent box office slumps such as “Lightyear,” “Turning Red,” and the initially lukewarm reception for “Elemental.” With a stellar 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, “Inside Out 2” might just join the billion-dollar club, giving Pixar one of its first mega-hits since 2019.
