After a worrying absence for cancer treatment, it has been confirmed that King Charles III and Queen Camilla will leave the UK for their first royal tour since his diagnosis. This is a very good sign, as it means that the monarch’s state of health has improved significantly.
On July 15th, it has been revealed that the royal couple will be traveling to Jersey, and then on July 16th, they will be visiting Guernsey, a short trip of only two days so as not to put the monarch’s health at risk, as this will be the second trip abroad since his cancer diagnosis.
Previously, the 75-year-old king left his home country to visit France to attend the D-Day event, but this time he will travel to the Channel Islands to highlight their alliance since the last time the monarch was present in the islands was in 2005.
Jerry Kyd, Deputy Governor of Jersey, said, “Their visit is a reflection of the ancient and very personal relationship that has existed between Jersey, as one of the Crown’s oldest possessions, and the Monarch, which stretches back eight centuries“. This shows how honored they are by King Charles’ visit to their islands.
