During the celebration of the second annual Reading Room literary festival at Hampton Court Palace, Queen Camilla met her biggest fan and admitted to being horrified that her guest did not bow in a joking manner, generating laughter among those present.
The best-selling author Harlan Coben did not miss his chance with the queen and said, “I just want to introduce you to number one New York Times best-selling author Emily Giffin, who is your biggest fan, and she is so excited to meet you“. Camilla immediately devoted her full attention to Griffin.
The author introduced herself and told the queen, “I came over for your Coronation. I just so admire you“. The Queen was surprised and asked if it was true, to which she replied, “Yes I slept on the street for two nights… It was an honor of my lifetime“, earning the astonishment of Queen Camilla.
Then the woman added, talking about Coben: “He’s very sorry that he didn’t bow before he shook your hand“, and Camilla’s response was, “I’d be horrified if I was you“, she said with the intention of releasing some tension, which gave Emily a chance to continue chatting and enjoy the moment of their meeting.
