Shakira might have made a trip to Colombia, and this time it wasn’t for a concert, but for something way more concerning—her dad, William Mebarak. The 92-year-old man is facing a health hiccup that allegedly made Shakira rush to his side.
William is a writer and businessman with Lebanese roots and has been credited for helping inspire Shakira’s first studio album “Magia“, which she released at 14. The businessman is now under tight watch at the Clínica Iberoamericana in northern Barranquilla, hooked up to life-supporting tech, and kept under intensive care.
The last time Mr. Mebarak Chadid hit the public eye was on December 26, checking out a Shakira statue on the Malecón del Río, approving it due to its striking resemblance to his daughter. The figure represents Shakira during her “Laundry Service” era, which spawned hits like “Whenever, Wherever” and “Underneath Your Clothes.”
Local media claim Shakira is currently in Barranquilla to be with her dad, William Mebarak Chadid, who remains hospitalized in intensive care.

Whispers on the Internet and the Colombian press say that Shakira landed in her hometown, Barranquilla, on Thursday with her kids Milan and Sasha. Since then, security’s tight at her parents’ home, hinting the pop sensation might be around. As of now, everything continues to be on the low and no official updates have been announced.
