Suzanne Collins, author of the “Hunger Games,” caused a great buzz among the franchise fans because after announcing “Sunrise of the Reaping.” The prequel is set 24 years earlier and will be out in 2025. Fortunately, it was also announced that the prequel is being adapted to the silver screen and will be out in 2026.
“The Hunger Games: Sunrise of the Reaping” is expected to focus on Haymitch Abernathy, played by Woody Harrelson in the first four installments. The battle-weary strategist character is still hunted during his time in the arena while he serves as the mentor of Katniss, played by Jennifer Lawrence.
Several questions have popped out, including who is going to play the younger version of Haymitch. Eight potential actors could fill the shoes and give a great performance worthy of the “The Hunger Games” series.
Nicholas Galitzine, who has shown his versatility in “Red, White & Royal Blue,” Austin Butler, the Oscar-nominated, “Elvis” star, Jacob Elordi, the star of “Saltburn,” Mike Faist, the “West Side Story” actor, Josh O’ Connor, the “Challenger” acclaimed actor, Callum Turner from “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore,” Danny Griffin from “Fate: The Winx Saga,” and Noah LaLonde from “My Life With the Walter Boys” are the ones chosen to play Haymitch in this new installment.
