Back in 2013, in the middle of a charity event, the current queen of pop, Taylor Swift, had the opportunity to meet an actual royal, the Prince William, and somehow managed to convince him to get on stage with her and join Jon Bon Jovi as he was performing one of his most iconic songs, “It’s My Life”. Among the very few interactions that have ever occurred between the British royalty and the American pop music scene, this is one for the books.
The event took place in a large tent that was set up for the occasion in the garden of the Kensington Palace. When reminiscing about it in the podcast Time to walk de Apple, Prince William said that it was all Taylor’s idea in the middle of a performance by Jon Bon Jovi.
“Taylor Swift was standing to my left, and after the first song came on, there was a pause and she turned to me. She put her hand on my arm, looked me in the eye and said, ‘Come on, William, let’s sing,’. To this day, I still don’t know what came over me, but honestly, if Taylor Swift asks you something like that and says, ‘Come with me…’ you just jump up like a puppy and think, ‘Okay, fine, that sounds like a good idea. I’ll do it.'”
Luckily for us, there were cameras rolling in that exact moment and we have video evidence of the Prince William singing along with one of his favorite artists and Taylor Swift, we’ll leave it linked below.
