King Charles III’s “reduced monarchy” allowed several working royal members to earn their spotlight in the British Family. One of these examples is Princess Sophie who is set to receive a new honour for her ungrudging contributions to the royal throne.
Previously, the Monarch of the United Kingdom named four new additions to the Order of the Garter, including Brigitte, the Duchess of Gloucester, and now Princess Sophie. The royal historian, Marlene Koenig, explained that King Charles III is set to confer the Duchess of Edinburgh the honor of a lady of the Garter in the upcoming months.
“I think it’s way cool that Charles has made this change, giving this to someone who has served the crown, and she and her husband were never meant to have a full-time royal career. This is another new change the king has implemented, and I think we’ll see more of that in another few years.”
King Charles III broke one of the royal traditions after it was reported that the late Queen Elizabeth II wanted her daughter, Princess Anne to be a Lady of the Garter. Only time will tell what kind of new honor the King has prepared for her sister.
