King Felipe and Queen Letizia‘s younger daughter, Infanta Sofía of Spain, is now a little lady at 17 years old. At her age two paths have become likely for her: going to the army, like her sister Princess Leonor, or attending University in 2025. But despite being part of the royal family, she’s often not a big name in the headlines, like her sister or parents are. 

Not to mention her title, “Infanta,” which is the female word used in Spanish and Portuguese royalty to describe something very specific. Yes, you read that right! That term is the royal title for a princess who’s not the first in line to the throne. It’s usually given to the second daughter of a king or queen, meaning she’s definitely a princess but not the next monarch (unless her sibling abdicates or passes away leaving no children).
