Princess Beatrice has been recently spotted through a whirlwind of engagements this week, making her a notorious presence at a variety of events. Perhaps, she could be stepping into roles typically graced by her cousin-in-law, Kate Middleton. The reason? The Princes of Wales undergoing cancer treatment, which was revealed earlier this year.
Now, let’s dive into Princess Beatrice’s tight agenda this week: the royal first attended the dazzling Buckingham Palace Garden Party and later was seen in a chic dinner hosted by Mark Cross and Aerin in London. But guess what? She now surprised students at West Thornton Primary School in Croydon, South London, reading them the 2024 Oscar Book Prize winner, “When Dinosaurs Walked the Earth” by Sean Taylor and Zehra Hicks.
We’re very lucky to have HRH Princess Beatrice as our Patron – and this year she helped us mark the inaugural Oscar’s Book Club by visiting a primary school and reading this year’s winning book!

During her visit, Princess Beatrice talked about her deep connection to storytelling, likely influenced by her mother, Sarah Ferguson. She also remarked on the importance of making books accessible to help children’s development. Early child support is also a cause Kate Middleton has been an avid advocate for, which shows similarities between both princesses.
“I really appreciate what stories can do, that special quality time, that moment at the end of the day—but also how important it is for reading, in general for young people, so making sure that we can do everything that we can to really make sure that these books really get into the hands of those that need it the most.”
This move by Beatrice not only proves her dedication to her duties, but also brings to light familial solidarity. Stepping in where needed, and ensuring the continuation of royal responsibilities has become an important point considering Kate Middleton’s absence from the public spotlight.
