Pirates of the Caribbean have a reboot and a Margot Robbie spinoff in the works

Pirates of the Caribbean” has never been ready to retire! Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, the powerhouse behind the five-part saga has confirmed that new treasures are seeing the light of day. In an exclusive reveal with Entertainment Weekly, the producer revealed a fresh reboot by Jeff Nathanson and a spinoff with Barbie sensation Margot Robbie.

“It’s two different movies,” Bruckheimer explained, expressing optimism mostly about the Margot Robbie-led adventure, which Disney can’t wait to develop. It has also been confirmed that this new venture will depart from familiar faces like Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), Elizabeth Turner (Keira Knightley), and the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp).

The reboot will also offer a different direction, despite Jerry Bruckheimer praising Johnny Depp’s unique role as Capitan Jack Sparrow, this upcoming project is designed to set sail without the original cast, aiming for a smoother production process. The initiative to refresh Pirates of the Caribbean began in 2019, with different writers using their hands for a reworked script.

Initially, Margot Robbie’s reboot started discussions in 2022, but Disney seemed to be dropping the anchor on the project. This new installment, which is set to have a female-led and a different kind of story, was revived and seems to be back on course, especially after the Barbie movie earned $1.4 million and impacted theaters like no other film last year.

There’s still no official confirmation from Disney itself, but the producer says both projects are in the works!
