Meghan Markle feels grateful for the reception towards her and Prince Harry in ‘her country’ Nigeria

On the second day of Meghan Markle‘s trip to Nigeria, the Duchess of Sussex talked with Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala about the importance of women today in all areas, whether they are mothers or professionals, and made reference to how proud Nigerian women must be to be where they are from.

On that opportunity, the Duchess started saying she felt lucky for the reception they gave to her and her husband Prince Harry in what she called “her country“, as she remembers having discovered that she had Nigerian roots after undergoing a genealogical test that showed that she was 43% from that country, which makes her feel happy to have that offspring.

I want to start by saying thank you very much for just how gracious you’ve all been in welcoming my husband and I to this country… my country“, said Meghan at the event.

In the conversation in front of more than 50 women belonging to various sectors of Nigeria, Meghan Markle also said, “It has been exciting to discover more of my roots and understand what that really means“.
