King Charles has made a dazzling return to the royal spotlight (and the public eye) amid his ongoing cancer treatment. This time, the monarch made a surprise visit to the 3rd Royal School of Military Engineering at Gibraltar Barracks in Minley, Hampshire, on Thursday, May 9. During this public outing, he was spotted receiving gifts and flowers and he also had a little chitchat with Colonel Robert Grant.
During the visit, King Charles joked about his public appearance, noting that he had finally been “allowed out of his cage.” This remark, which he said with a little chuckle, was a cheeky nod to his recent absence from the royal spotlight. Here’s what he said:
“I do apologise for taking you by surprise, when this opportunity appeared and I had been allowed out of my cage, I wanted to come to have a look.”

And just like that, the King proves his all about light-hearted humor and a few jokes here and there! This public appearance comes after royal followers and the media speculated about him reuniting with his son, Prince Harry, earlier this week. Sadly, the meet-up didn’t come to be!
