On May 6th, the famous South Korean boy group Stray Kids made history with their debut at the Met Gala 2024 as the entire K-pop group to attend this fashion event. As always, the boys looked beautiful by appearing in matching outfits, representing the Tommy Hilfiger brand as the global ambassadors they are.

However, although the gala was iconic, it was tainted by the lack of respect the Stray Kids members suffered during the whole event, since they received many sarcastic and mean comments, besides negative behavior from some media that were present, which has been accused of being racist against the boy group in the Met Gala.

Vogue was one of the United States media outlets to be in the spotlight due to an article titled “Everything you need to know about Stray Kids, the Korean group that sells out tours around the world“. At the beginning of the read, they cause the anger of the STAYs as they mention the former member of the boy group, Woonjin, who many do not know due to his controversies and scandalous departure, which many thought was unnecessary and disrespectful to talk about.

At the same time, other fans pointed out that Vogue is only trying to make fun of them, as the writer of the same article misidentified the members of the group by calling Hyunjin ‘Seungmin’ and Seungmin ‘Felix’. Through social networks, many said the article was very messy and seemed to have been made with racist intentions because, according to fans, they would not be able to maintain respect for the boys and that this is not the first time.
