Anne Hathaway was embarrassed when the ‘Tonight Show’ audience had a strange reaction to her question

The Oscar winner, Anne Hathaway, made an appearance in the popular comedy talk show ‘The Tonight Show‘ to promote her most recent movie titled ‘The Idea of You’ where she plays a woman in her 40s who falls in love with a young musician.

Amid her interview with the host Jimmy Fallon, the actress who stars in the movie ‘The Devil Wears Prada‘ wanted to ask a question to the audience, hoping for a good response, but contrary to that, the reaction of the people present left her totally ashamed.

Anne Hathaway, 41 years old, asked the attendees if they had read the book the film was based on, which was also named ‘The Idea of You‘. After this, the crowd kept silent, giving a weird response to the question, and Jimmy quickly intervened, saying, “We don’t read here. This is ‘The Tonigth Show’, you have to watch Stephen Colbert if you want people to read books, it’s boring“.

The actress was so embarrassed by the reaction of the public that she covered her face with her hands while laughing due to the awkward moment, besides asking in a funny way, “What is a book?” The moment went viral on networks, making more people want to read the book and even watch the movie, which was released on March 16th.
