“The Lion King” live-action took over the whole world in 2019 because of its great reviews and box-office gross. Almost 5 years later, Disney has surprised its fans with the new prequel titled, “Mufasa: The Lion King,” joined by Beyoncé and her daughter, Blue Ivy Carter.
It was reported Beyoncé is set to reprise her role as Nala from the 2019 film, and Bue Ivy voices daughter of King Simba, also is set to be reprised by Donald Glover. Kiara is a character who last appeared in 1998’s animated “The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride.”
This newest prequel is set to be directed by Moonlight Oscar winner, Barry Jenkins, who wants to bring freshness to the movie and make an exceptional job. Disney already released the official synopsis for “Mufasa: The Lion King.”
“Simba, having become king of the Pride Lands, is determined for his cub to follow in his paw prints while the origins of his late father Mufasa are explored.”
Jenkins had an exclusive convo with PEOPLE, explaining that Beyoncé both on the screen and behind the screen, gets to be a mother. This particular detail impacted the work for the better that they were all doing, describing it as really awesome. “Mufasa: The Lion King” is set to be released on December 20, 2024.
