King Charles has made a historic move appointing his daughter-in-law Kate Middleton as the Royal Companion of The Order of the Companions of Honour. The Order, first established in 1917 by King George V, is dedicated to recognizing major contributions to the arts, sciences, medicine, and public service.
This marks the first time a member of the royal family has held this title, with Kate Middleton being the first one ever to mark history. The Princess studied history at St. Andrews University and is actively involved in arts and charity.
As of now, there are 65 members of The Order of the Companions of Honour, including Maggie Smith, Ian McKellen, Elton John, Paul McCartney, J.K. Rowling, and David Attenborough. Other important figures are Stephen Hawking, Winston Churchill, and Desmond Tutu.
This new dazzling appointment for Kate Middleton coincides with other honors earned by other royal family members. For example, Prince William was named “Great Master of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath” and Queen Camilla was given the title of “Grand Master and First or Principal Dame Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.“
